What Happens if you Don't Seal Your Tile Grout?
I always had an issue with my kitchen and bathroom grout. These being rough wear and tear areas, the grout used to easily crack or miss in places. Some tiles in my kitchen have also become dislodged because of missing grout. To maintain my surfaces, I always ended up getting re-grouting done every few months. But recently, I chanced upon an excellent grout sealer named Caponi. It has been a year since I have used Caponi on the grout and it still looks fresh and new! Caponi is also very sleek and not bulky like other sealers.
Here, am sharing my personal experience and knowledge with you on floor tile grout sealer.
Mentioned - below is my knowledge and experience on using Sentura.
I used Sentura to replace the silicone caulk in my shower and the results are permanent. I highly recommend using these incredible grout sealers for your homes. Most people don’t even realize that they should seal their tile and grout. Contractors often neglect to tell their customers about the importance of sealing tile and grout. But, now that you do know the importance of sealing your grout, as well as how to do it yourself, give your tiles some love and protection.

Reasons Why You Should Seal Your Grout with a Good Sealer:
- Grout is a mixture of sand and cement which is filled in the void between two tiles to join them. This grout tends to come off after some time if not sealed properly.
- When you don’t seal your grout with a good sealer, it soon cracks or wears off, giving a dirty and un-maintained appearance to your flooring.
- The area from where the grout has cracked stores water making it stagnant. Stagnant water is an excellent breeding ground for mold, fungus and mildew.
- Grout is porous by nature as it is made from sand and cement. If you do not seal the grout, it absorbs dirty water, leading to mold and mildew formation.
- Mold and mildew, if not cleaned immediately, leads to eye problems, runny nose and other respiratory problems.
- An unsealed grout becomes discolored and stained giving a blacking appearance to your tiles, thereby ruining the look of your costly tile.
- If the grout has worn off completely, the tiles can come off loose without the presence of a good joint between them. This can be very dangerous to someone walking barefoot on the flooring.

Caponi - A Wonder Grout Sealer
Caponi is a very efficient colored grout sealer, which is available in 40 different colors. These colors are mostly earthy and neutral tones found in tiles. Caponi has a durable titanium base which does its work in just a single coat. It is a pigmented grout sealing system that is built on a rock-solid 2-part solvent titanium resin/epoxy foundation. It is made in such a way that it can cover all grout in just one coat. It is suitable for sealing both sanded and unsanded grout.
How to Apply Grout Sealer?
- After the grout has dried properly, you can apply the epoxy grout sealer. I used an Italian made grout line painting brush from the same company, which made the application job very easy.
- I applied the sealant in a smooth and even coat over the grout lines. You need to take care that you do not miss out any part of the grout.
- After applying Caponi on the grout lines, I wiped off the excess build-up using Alco - a paint thinner.
